If you haven’t tried viral images on your site yet, it may be worth investigating, viral images can send lots of traffic back to you and also lots of links. There is a bit of an art to it, but it is fun even in the experimental stage.
The steps to make a viral image are quite simple, then it is just a case of playing around with it until you find something that works for you and your site. I bet you have seen images with text over them on Facebook? Did you notice how many shares that some of them get? 100′s and even 1000′s. The reason for this is people love sharing images and they find it easy to share on Facebook, there is a button for it.
What we are talking about here is generally the same but on one of your own web pages instead of Facebook and then giving people the options to share. First off, you have to sit back and think about what people do and do not share. People love to share Funny images, controversial images, cute images, shocking images to name a few. People do not like to share business. So if you had a great funny image on a page where you are trying to sign people up, it is very doubtful that people will share it. People do not want to recommend and share something with their friends if they are uncertain of it themselves. That is human nature, and I for one have never shared anything when the website is blatantly trying to get something out of the share.
So with this in mind the first thing you need is an image and the ability to write text on it, I use Gimp which is free. Then you need to make a page on your blog or site that is totally blank and with no sidebar with any sort of marketing on it at all. Then some social sharing buttons and a little embed code for people to link back to you by embedding your image on their site.
I have made a page on this site to give you an exampleI did this quickly with not a lot of thought to the image, but as you can see people have started sharing it, if I had included my website link on the image, people would not share, if I had my business and a sign up form in a sidebar, again people would not share.
Think carefully about what people will share, shocking is good, funny is good, and watch your site visitors increase, some people are getting 100,000 people to their site per month using this method and many backlinks, so definitely worth investigating.
Once you have your image and page set up, it is time to start sharing, You are looking for an initial traffic burst for a couple of weeks, one influential person online can be explosive, 10 or 20 is an explosion. There is an element of luck involved and obviously if people don’t like the image, they will not share it. Trial and error.
Then go and share everywhere you can;
Fiverr.com ( people charge a fiver to share a Tweet to many followers)
Paid for traffic eg Adf.ly
StumbleUpon (You can buy stumbles too)
Niche websites (may want to share your image)
Ask a few friends to comment.
Make it fun, make images that people will share, if they do not share it, they don’t like it, do not get upset about it, make another one until you crack it. 100′s of backlinks could be at stake as well as high page rankings.
