Fire Risk Assessment
1. About these premises
This mock assessment describes a fictional pub called The Lantern Tap. It is written only to show how a document of this type could look on a hospitality website. It is not a real assessment of any building.
The demo premises are treated as a ground-floor public house with a bar, dining room, kitchen and staff-only store. No street address is given because this is not a real place.
2. People who might be at risk
- Customers in the bar and dining room (demo description only)
- Kitchen and bar staff on duty (fictional roles, not named people)
- Anyone less familiar with the layout, including visitors
3. Example hazards and sample controls
| Example hazard | Who might be harmed | Sample control shown here |
|---|---|---|
| Open cooking in the kitchen | Kitchen staff and anyone nearby | Extraction, a fire blanket and a clearly marked extinguisher (shown as examples) |
| Candles or open flames on tables | Customers and staff | Use only where a member of staff can see them; never leave them unattended |
| Blocked routes or locked exits | Everyone on the premises | Keep marked exits clear; check them as part of opening duties |
| Waste and deliveries near exits | Everyone on the premises | Store waste away from escape routes |
4. Escape and equipment (demo notes)
Two example escape routes are described: the main front door and a staff door from the kitchen corridor. Assembly is described as “the far side of the demo car park”, which is not a real location.
Example equipment listed for this mock file: smoke alarms in public rooms, heat detection in the kitchen, emergency lighting on escape routes, and a fire alarm call point by each exit.
5. Review
A live business would review a real assessment after any significant change, and at regular intervals. This mock file has a sample “next review” date of 6 November 2027 and has not been signed by anyone.
MOCK EXAMPLE - not a real document, not legal advice
Prepared as an Impactive website example. No real staff, customers or addresses are named.
