Staff handbook excerpt
An excerpt from a mock staff handbook for The Lantern Tap. It is not a contract, a policy for any real employer, or legal advice.
Welcome (demo text)
This fictional handbook would tell new starters how the demo pub likes the floor and kitchen to run: be ready before the doors open, keep the premises tidy, and tell the duty manager if something does not look safe.
Appearance and conduct (sample)
- Wear the uniform described by the manager on the day
- Keep jewellery to what the kitchen and bar can work with safely
- Phones stay away from the pass and the bar during service, unless the duty manager has asked you to use one
Timekeeping (sample)
Rotas for this demo business live on the staff area of the website and can be password protected. Arrive in time to be ready for the start of your shift. If you cannot work a shift, tell the duty manager as soon as you can.
Fire and first aid (sample)
If you discover a fire in this demo story, raise the alarm, ask guests to leave by the nearest safe exit, and go to the fictional assembly point on the far side of the demo car park. Do not go back inside. First-aiders on a given day would be named on a real staff noticeboard; they are not named here.
What this excerpt does not cover
Pay, holidays, discipline, data protection and many other subjects would belong in a real handbook written for that business, with advice from someone qualified to give it.
MOCK EXAMPLE - not a real document, not legal advice
Prepared as an Impactive website example. No real staff, customers or addresses are named.
